MRF Tyres for NZRC 2025

MRF Tyres have an Agreement in place with NZRC to be the tyre suppliers for all Cat 1-4 Cars for 2024, 25 and 26, The tyres will be supplied through Palmside NZ 2023 LTD and you can either buy them online or flick us a message and we can send an invoice.

Now we are in our second year we have learnt a little more about the compounds, The 205/65/15 ZG3 tyre will be available in super soft, soft and medium.

In 2024 the Cat 1 competitors used the soft compound tyre for the majority of events, we introduced a medium for Whangarei due to the heat and road conditions and had competitors run both compounds during Whangarei, we found that all compounds seem to last similar distances it just the stability increases when you go up in compounds.

Daytime temperature or road condition do play a part and its really up to each competitor to decide what suits there driving style and vehicle.

MRF recommend the tyre should start warm around 1.8 bar and finish at about 2.0 bar,  tyre pressures are also something the competitor needs to work through to what suits them best as this is just a guide.

Cat 2,3,4 & 5: We have found that the cars in these classes tend to run all compounds depending on the vehicle, event, daytime temperature and the distance between services, we are happy to give you our thoughts but like anything tyres are something the competitor has to work out what suits them and their car best.

For Otago Rally we have Tyre Owl providing the get out of jail service for Cat 1,2,3 & 4 and any Cat 5 cars running MRF Tyres, they will be in the service park with their gear and have some stock on hand, so look out for the big grey van.

As of the 1st March 2024 there is the introduction of the compulsory Tyre Stewardship Fee of $6.65 plus gst per tyre in regard to Waste Minimisation Regulations for Recycling.
